Black Spring is a celebration of Black people; creative, fragile, vulnerable, resilient, powerful… All are here and valid, beautifully wrapped in every shade of black and brown. Black people in the year 2020 experienced a Spring like no other; but the learning, healing and inspiration won’t fall back with the hush of the media, or the changing of the seasons. Resisting all adversity, Black Spring stands for the spring-back into action; for the bloom, and for living our best, varied and colourful black lives together.

Black Spring is a micro-brand created by Ruth Bartlett and Stupendous Tremendous to create a long term channel for funding the global community on a local level, starting out in our home towns of Berlin and London. Short run garments and accessories made with as much honour and integrity as possible.

This first release of t-shirts and bags were co-designed in London and Berlin, hand dyed and screen printed in Berlin on organic, fair and/or dead stock. We have done our best to keep the processing in the hands of small and local businesses and will keep checking on the brands we buy blanks from to ensure our products are supportive and not harmful to our black and brown brothers and sisters worldwide.

50% of profits from this first release will be used in the production of the second release, and the other 50% will be split between The Centre for Intersectional Justice in Berlin, and Sistah Space in London.
